Think of us as a vacation rental…your home away from home, which just happens to be located on Cleary Summit, one of the best aurora viewing spots in the world! There are no restaurants or stores onsite, but we are just an easy 30 minutes drive north of downtown Fairbanks. The Aurora Borealis Lodge offers two types of lodging. The Cedar Lodge offers four private rooms with north facing windows with excellent views of the night sky. Logan’s Chalet is a spacious two bedroom Alaskan log home with an aurora viewing platform in the front yard.  Please note that there are no restaurants or food service at our property, but all rooms & the Chalet has its own private kitchen, and private bathroom.
No Smoking & Sorry, No Pets allowed.
Overnight lodging is open August 16 to mid-April.
Travel Insurance recommended!  Please note that we have a semi-strict cancellation policy. All rooms have a 10% non-refundable deposit requirement. The Cedar Lodge rooms have a 50% charge for cancellations made within 14 days, and then a 100% charge for cancellations made within 7 days of arrival. Logan’s Chalet has a 50% charge for cancellations made within 30 days, and then a 100% charge for cancellations made within 10 days of arrival. These charges apply regardless of reason, be it illness, death, natural disasters, flight cancellations, etc. And in regards to flight cancellations, with limited flights into Alaska/Fairbanks, it might be another 2, 3 or more days before the airlines can reschedule you on the next flight, which actually means that you’d most likely have to cancel your Alaskan trip altogether, most of which will also have a similar, or even stricter, policy. We don’t have a specific travel insurance company to recommend, but a quick online search of “Best Travel Insurance” gives you a list of viable options.  High end credit card companies (such as American Express’ Platinum Card) may offer travel insurance so be sure to check into that too.
Cedar Lodge

The Cedar Lodge has two rooms on the first floor and two rooms on the second floor for a total of four rooms. Each room is approximately 400 sq. ft, and is set up like an efficiency condo with a kitchen and private bathroom. And since many ask, the views from both first & second floor rooms are great! Guests with children 8 & under are asked to stay in first floor room due to sound/foot steps issues.

The kitchen features full size oven/cook top, apartment size refrigerator (with freezer compartment), microwave, coffee maker (10 cup) with coffee filters, toaster oven, rice cooker, pots/pans, plates/bowls, cups, utensils, cooking tools. Also supplied are coffee, tea, sugar/creamer packs, salt, pepper, cooking oil and soy sauce.
The bathroom features hand held showerheads, heated bidet toilet seats, soap/shampoo, towels, toilet paper, and hair dryer.
Logan’s Chalet

Logan’s Chalet is a 2 bedroom/1 bathroom, 1000 square ft log house. It’s perfect for families, groups of friends, or even two-person parties who like to have more privacy.

- Two Bedrooms – A spacious loft bedroom with 2 queen beds, and a first floor bedroom with 1 queen bed.
- One Bathroom – Heated toilet seat/bidet, and shower (no tub).
- Full kitchen – with custom granite counters
- Leather sofa & chair in the living area.

- WiFi Internet.
- Toyo Oil heater.
- Exclusive 15 foot high Aurora Viewing Platform.

Cedar Lodge Deposit / Cancellation Policies
10% non-refundable deposit per night per room.
- Cancellations made 15 days or more prior to arrival date will be charged just the original 10% deposit as the cancellation fee.
- Cancellations made within 8-14 days of arrival date will be charged 50% of the total. The remainder will be refunded.
- Cancellations made within 7 days of arrival date will be charged full amount.
- Date Change Fee*: Â $10/day. (Changes made within 14 days of arrival date will be considered as a cancellation.)
NEW: For reservations more than one week away, we can do a 24 hour hold for you. Simply go ahead and make your reservation (deposit payment will be required). If you cancel within 24 hours via e-mail, your deposit will be refunded.
The remaining balance is charged 30-days or so prior to your check-in date. If you prefer to use a different credit card than the one used for the deposit (and thus on file), please let us know.
